How to convince your clients to approve your designs?


As most of you working in the interior designing industry would agree, the worst part of the job would have to be appealing to the clients. Well, this is how it goes. Your client comes to you with a project they want you to work on. You accept the project, study it in details and come up with a plan. Before you execute the plan, you must get it approved by the client to ensure that they are getting their money’s worth. Now, this is the part that can make or break the deal. Unless the client gives you a green signal, you cannot proceed with the plan. Instead, you will have to make changes to the plan or redo it completely till they are satisfied.

Presentation is the key
Of course, once you come up with a plan, you are expected to present it to the clients formally in the form of a presentation. Now the key to impressing your clients is in how you present the plan. You need to present your proposal in a way that makes it impossible for the client to say no – make it as interesting and eye-catching as possible. One look at it should be enough to grab the scrutinizing eyeballs of your clients. Be persuasive and clear in getting your message across.

Confidence can Work Wonders
Clients can practically smell fear. The moment they feel that you’re not too confident about your presentation, they might simply lose interest and might start picking faults to make you falter further. That is a recipe for disaster. Make sure the person presenting the proposal exudes confidence. This is your plan, your brainchild – you must be proud of it. In that case, why not let it show? Of course, don’t be overconfident, since no one likes that. Your sincerity and eagerness to please must be evident.

Be Specific
If there is one thing clients absolutely detest, it is exaggeration and beating around the bush. Get to the point and do it soon. Before you start the presentation, you must have a clear idea of how you want to steer the conversation. Present your plan in the form of crisp points – that not only makes it easier for the client to follow but also ensures that they don’t lose track in the middle. It also holds their attention for the rest of the presentation.

Keeping these basic points in mind would help you impress your clients and convince them that your proposal is perfect according to your client’s requirements.
